How to do Local SEO in 2021?

Post by ahbappy250 »

When we do an implicit search (on the right), we get content from authoritative websites in this category: Consumer Reports, Energy.gov, Bob Vila, etc. When we do an explicit search (on the left), we see mostly Phoenix plumbing companies that have written content on this topic.

On this topic, most people will do implicit research, not explicit research.

I want to point out something about the SERP for explicit search. You see that the #1 organic result is a local plumber and that it has a nice featured snippet? That's pretty cool, right?

I have a theory about featured snippets. I think denmark whatsapp number Google will do a Venice-type update at some point that will affect featured snippets.

Featured snippets have long been reserved (mostly) for authoritative websites on a national scale. My theory is that at some point, featured snippets will dynamically change based on a user's geographic location.

A search on the topic "condensing boilers vs tank" will therefore result in a change in the featured snippets depending on the user's location.

Makes sense, right? If there wasn’t enough local content to satisfy the snippet, Google would simply use the regular snippet that was used previously.

I have no proof, but I think it will happen at some point!

We are not trying to rank nationally for these types of comparative queries, so we will rely on the local competition currently ranking to get a sense of their content.

I looked at the top four local businesses ranking for the main topic query and these are my notes:

Should this content be covered on the main topic page, should it be a child page of the main topic page, or should it be a blog post?

I would like this content to be a child page of our main thematic page and I will explain why.

When I look at information architecture, my goal is to make it as easy as possible for users to get to the page they are looking for in two clicks from the home page.

Sure, we could rely on internal links from our main topic page to the blog post, but if the content is thematically relevant, why not nest it under the main topic?

Having all this content on the main condensing boilers topic page would likely make the page too long and dilute its main purpose, which is to rank for its main keywords.

So we'll create a dedicated page for our Comparison category. What about our "Repair" and "Main" categories?

Once again we will rely on the SERPs to guide us. We will follow the same process we just did. I have an idea for Repair, but we need to check the SERPs first.
