Senior Management
Without the support of senior management, it would be difficult to execute any business activity . Managers are often highly motivated to demonstrate that their actions (and those of their teams) contribute to the successful achievement of the organization's objectives. Making the transition to a master data environment should enable greater dexterity and agility both in the predictable behavior of existing applications and systems and in the rapid development of support for new business initiatives . This drives high engagement.

Senior management is also one of the roles of an MDM project that ensures the rest of the organization remains engaged . In addition, senior management must also prepare the organization for some necessary behavioral changes , such as responsibilities and incentives evolving from focusing on the success of one vertical business area to seeing how the triumphs of one business line contribute to overall organizational success.

For each of the lines of business, there are representative customers whose operations and success depend on high availability of application data. For the most part, unless the business customer is intrinsically involved in the underlying technology associated with the business processes, it matters little how the system works, but rather that the system works . Assuming that the data used within existing business applications meets the business user's expectations, incorporating the business customer's data into a master repository is only relevant to the business customer if the process degrades the usability of the data .
