Google Penguin: Penalizable Links

Post by shuklarani621 »

Incoming links to a website have always played a very important role in the world of web positioning , but how much have we taken care of the quantity, quality and relevance of the websites that have linked to us over all this time?

If we talk about quality, we will have to mention the many places and ways in which we can get a link, but we must also ask ourselves certain questions such as: How pleasant are these links to Google? How many links are pointing to us with a single anchor? (search keyword), and many others that had not been taken so seriously (not by everyone at least) until before the latest update, Google Penguin.

A separate point is to talk about the quantity; and it is that back links are important, as it is well known Google takes into account the links as “votes”. Therefore, theoretically, the websites with the most votes are those that the most users find valuable, therefore they are the ones that could obtain the best ranking.
But, for years this has been manipulated, and I should not only mention those companies that offer the sale of 5,000 links for $5; for which today there is nothing else to do but start looking for new horizons; or finland number dataset who hired this “service” and whose so evident quantity and in such a short time of links has made the Google Spam alarm go off; but also those who have dedicated themselves to obtaining as many links as they were proposed, without caring if the website was or was not related to their services or field, if it was even indexed, if it was a website with a penalizable theme (betting, casinos, porn, etc.), if in addition to theirs there were 100 other links in the URL where they were adding it; and a long etc. more.
But these exchanges, which were so good and easy at the time, have only brought an unpleasant surprise today, seeing the rankings of the once very good websites become completely irrelevant, and those who were lucky and did not disappear completely.

This is when a lot of questions arise, such as: What did I do wrong? What do I do now? Is there a chance of recovering my rankings?….
Nobody has the exact answers yet, since we have all been scared by the new “animal” Google, to a greater or lesser degree of course. Of course, there are some measures that could help us recover our rankings, and that is why today I will leave you with some information about the review of the links that are already pointing to us and about some precautionary measures that we could take into account from now on with the pages that link to us.

Regarding the review of our backlinks, there are some tools that can help us with this task, including:

SEOMoz Open Site Explorer
Ahrefs Site Explorer
Site Explorer Majestic

With any of them you can check one by one which websites have a link pointing to your website. As a personal comment, I would suggest using more than one, in case I miss a link on the first one, and if you are interested in obtaining much more strict and relevant data (and the budget), you can get the paid version, which will always be the best option.

Once you have finished identifying which pages are linking to you and which ones should stop doing so, it is time to prepare a short email asking for your link to be removed. It is necessary to be clear and precise, explaining that you are trying to recover from a Google penalty, indicating the data and the URL where the link to be removed is located. Be very careful, though. I recently read a post in English about How to remove spam links to recover from Google Penguin? and it turns out that there are many Webmasters who are asking for payment to remove the link.
