The importance of user experiences: UX Basics and the universe of usability

Post by Reddi3 »

Experience design is a discipline that is gaining ground every day in companies. Even so, there is still much to learn and discover regarding the totality of applications and areas of knowledge and expertise that it encompasses. Improving user experiences can be a very profitable investment for your company.
The origins of user experience (UX) are sometimes associated with the birth of Feng Shui in China in 4000 BC, where the aim was to harmonise everyone with the environment. Later in Greece, the discipline cambodia phone number data of ergonomics was created, which is concerned with designing interactions between systems and humans. But if we move to contemporary times, one of the pioneers of large-scale UX who applied the principles in an environment of great interaction complexity was Walt Disney. In the late 1960s, he began to take care of all the contact points of visitors to his amusement parks, generating what is still known today as a magical and unforgettable experience. Anyone who visits a Disney theme park is unlikely to forget it.

If we focus on the user experience with a machine or device, in the mid- 1970s Apple began to apply the principles of usability to what they called HCI (Human Computer Interaction) in their first laptops. However, success did not materialize until they understood that the use of their products was not the only thing they had to take care of, but all the contact points: it is no coincidence that the famous “unboxing” videos of Apple products on YouTube have so many views.

The most current definition comes from Donald Norman in 1995, who called it “ User Experience Design ” and explains it with the following words: “I invented the term because I thought that the human interface and usability were too limited: I wanted to cover all aspects of the person's experience with a system, including industrial design, graphics, interface, physical interaction and the manual.”
