Kaspersky invests in Southern China

Russian cybersecurity company Kaspersky plans to build a data center in southern China, most likely in Guizhou province , after investing in it since the beginning of the year, a company executive said.

Adrian Hia, Managing Director of Kaspersky in Asia Pacific (APAC), said: “In light of the trend of integration of the Chinese data market in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, we intend to explore new opportunities in this region and provide our customers with customized cloud detection and response services for data protection. In the current environment, when many countries are paying special attention to data sovereignty, having a local presence is of great importance to us.”

Xia's remarks come as China is stepping up efforts to push forward the construction of a national integrated computing network, including data centers, cloud computing and integrated data management, optimizing resources in various fields. The initiative not only promotes the development of the digital economy but also helps narrow regional differences, experts said.

The main goal is to achieve a data security industry value of more than 150 billion yuan ($20.9 billion) by 2025.
