Seven pending tasks before the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Post by Aklima@4 »

A few days ago, the World Economic Forum was held in Davos. One of its ideologists, Klaus Schwab, argues that we are facing the Fourth Industrial Revolution .

Time will tell if he is right. What is clear, for now, is that digital transformation is leading to a series of developments in the company . These are the main pending tasks , especially in SMEs, in this process.

1) Place the customer at the center of decisions
Yes, digital transformation offers great opportunities in relation to customers. For example, it offers new channels of communication with customers, improvements in the sources of data on their characteristics and behaviour and in the way of processing them. It has brought great changes to marketing .

For their part, customers want to feel like they are the protagonists of the new possibilities that digital transformation offers . Theoretically, these innovations can bring an improvement in the quality of products and customer service and a decrease in costs and prices. And it is the company that must transform its processes to meet this opportunity that is presented.

However, changes are costly , the so-called digital transformation is a process that will require significant efforts over a long period of time. It is not unusual to see companies trying to transfer the burden of effort to the customer. For example, although today it is possible for the relationship between customer and company to develop through multiple channels , there are companies that are reluctant to allow the customer to have or be able to choose the channel to communicate with the company at any given time.

One of the effects of digital transformation is that night clubs and bars email list customers will change. Perhaps some of their tastes, their training, their information will change… But those who will have to change the most are companies , since it is their opportunity to sell more, improve margins thanks to increased productivity (and the consequent reduction in costs) and improve their economic and financial profitability.

2) Manage data efficiently and usefully
Companies, and especially SMEs, are becoming aware of the importance of data in business management . There is a lot of data that can guide decisions. But knowing that it exists and that it can be very useful is one thing, and knowing how to take advantage of it is quite another.

There are more and more tools that make it easier for SMEs to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Big Data and Small Data . The challenge is to further reduce the number of SMEs and self-employed workers who are not yet considering implementing plans in this regard.

Simplicity is key when it comes to convincing laggards. It's about getting them practical reports based on data that are very easy to interpret. It's common for a freelancer or SME manager to have difficulty managing their time and not want to waste their time on data they can't understand.
