Whenever we hear about the greenhouse effect, it is to raise awareness of its negative consequences, although originally speaking of this concept did not have the current meaning.

The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon that keeps the Earth's surface at temperatures suitable for life. During the last decades, it has become dangerously unbalanced due to human activities, which increase the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG). Although the best known is CO 2 , there are also methane and nitrous oxide.

This has caused progressive global warming , a term that we should be concerned about.

What is the greenhouse effect?
The greenhouse effect occurs when the solar energy received by cfo email list the Earth, which comes from natural solar radiation, cannot return to space. Solar energy passes through the atmosphere, bounces off the Earth's surface, and bounces back off the layer of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, hitting the Earth's surface again, and so on and so forth.

This causes more heat to be retained on Earth, increasing the average surface temperature. However, not all of the current warming is attributed to human action. Since it was formed, the planet has been experiencing constant and permanent climate change, with periods in which the average temperature increases and others in which it decreases, without it being known exactly why these changes occur. We are currently in an interglacial period, in which the Earth is increasing its average temperature naturally before falling back into an ice age.

In addition, greenhouse gases are very necessary, since without them the average temperature of the Earth's surface would be about -18ºC, instead of the current average of 15ºC. Without them, the Earth would be basically made of ice. We have to imagine a real greenhouse, in which the plastic cover prevents heat loss, maintaining a stable temperature, allowing life to thrive.

This does not mean that we should not stop the excessive levels of global warming and greenhouse effect, but we must act to prevent the planet from reaching a critical point. There are currently too many GHGs in the atmosphere.

The human impact on the greenhouse effect
The greenhouse effect is no longer a natural process. In recent decades it has been accentuated by human action with the emission of harmful gases , the main causes of the increase in the Earth's surface temperature: carbon dioxide and methane.
