Rule 4. The right colors

Post by mstlucky8072 »

Colors are another very important element of graphic design. Thanks to them we can get the right message, for example yellow or red are very loud and have warning connotations, while blue or green have a calming effect on the recipient. I will try to outline how to choose colors to match each other, I will list the basic color palettes used in graphic design and explain some issues related to colors.

The most commonly used colour ranges, often included in brand books, are:

RGB colors - colors displayed on monitors, tablets or phones, we use them for Facebook posts, banners or other graphics that will be displayed, not printed. The name comes from the abbreviation of the words: R - red, G - green and B - blue.
CMYK colors - a palette designed for printing. It should be noted here that CMYK colors are not displayed on the monitor. Yes, you can change the gamut, e.g. in Photoshop or CorelDraw, but you should be aware that after printing the project, it may differ significantly from what you see on the monitor. Additionally, there may be differences in the color of the printout depending on the printer brand or type of printout. That is why it is worth making small print samples, which will help avoid errors.
Pantone colours - colours introduced by the Pantone company from the USA. The undoubted advantage of this range is the fact that if we have pantone palettes (they are in the form of a printed sample) there is no possibility of any differences in colour, which makes work much easier.
Features related to colors and differences between them
Color temperature - colors are divided into warm shades (orange, yellow) and cold shades (e.g. blue)
Color Saturation (the phenomenon of sotalitization - color saturation), is a determinant of color intensity. Highly saturated colors are intense, while in the opposite case the color approaches gray.
Color hue (one of the most important characteristics of color) is the way they are defined for colors such as red, blue or purple.
Brightness of a color (describes the color in terms of intensity and brightness). Colors can be both dark and light. An interesting fact is that colors can appear lighter or darker depending on their surroundings.
Colors can be divided not only by the features listed above, but also by their type. These include:

monochromatic colors,
pure colors and broken colors,
primary and secondary colours,
complementary colours.
Choosing colors, contrary to appearances, is a very difficult task. Many beginner graphic designers cannot handle it. Sites like Adobe Color, Colorlovers and Color Hunter come to the rescue. Those with less paytm database experience can use such sites to make their work easier and to gain practice in using the right colors.

Rule 5. Proper composition
Composition is a very important element of every graphic design, photography, drawing or painting. When starting studies related to art, the basis will be the study of composition and its principles. In simple terms, composition is the arrangement of elements placed in a given work, in a certain arrangement creating a harmonious whole. In order for our Facebook post or poster or illustration to be as legible as possible, we should try to make the composition well-made. Compositions are divided into several types, below I have listed the most important ones:

open composition and closed composition,
static composition and dynamic composition,
rhythmic composition,
symmetrical composition and asymmetrical composition,
diagonal composition, horizontal composition and vertical composition.
It is also a very good practice to follow the rules of dividing the frame composition. In photography, painting, illustration or design graphics, the rules resulting from mathematics and geometry apply. By using such solutions, we can be sure that our post on Facebook or Instagram will have a well-thought-out graphic layout. By placing important information or products in strong points (marked in the image with a yellow dot), we will make the graphics more legible.

Graphics must be consistent and well thought out. Errors not only make the project look unprofessional, but above all they cause clutter, which distracts the recipient. This is very bad for the project. Therefore, the composition should always be well thought out so that our projects can achieve their goal to the best extent.

Summary
To sum up, in the article I described the basic rules and good habits that make graphic design easier. These tips will be useful for anyone who is just taking their first steps in graphic design - both self-taught and people in design studies.
