Architectural heritage in isolated areas

Post by rabia829 »

An institution collaborates with communities to generate development opportunities in isolated territories.
The Procultura Foundation was founded in 2009 with the aim of uniting Chile's identity and cultural and natural heritage.

Specifically, the organization has developed projects in the regions of Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitan, O'Higgins, Biobío, Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes .

The director of this non-profit institution, Lorena Pérez, details in an interview for the website Plataforma Arquitectura the main challenges of the organization, related to the heritage and roots of communities in a territory.

“There are two aspects that I see as more challenging. fantuan database The first has to do with the socioeconomic and cultural vulnerability that is common in these communities and the second with the current mechanisms for protecting heritage,” Pérez points out.

The director highlights the importance of citizen cooperation in this type of project, which, in addition to the usual questionnaires to obtain information, seeks to strengthen this social relationship.

Pérez points out that there is a tendency to believe that their life in isolation causes its inhabitants to not understand the concept of heritage or its value: “perhaps the inhabitants of these places do not know the disciplinary definition of heritage and may not even recognize the value of a property as a professional in the area would understand it.”

In addition to carrying out documentary research and collecting quantitative data, every project must also carry out a heritage diagnosis that includes “the values, attributes and heritage elements of a territory, highlighting them from the communities.”

All those professionals who wish to broaden their experience and develop projects that promote culture will be able to achieve their goal with the university programs sponsored by FUNIBER . One of the courses offered is the Master's Degree in Cultural Project Management.
