The Procultura Foundation was founded in 2009 with the aim of uniting Chile's identity and cultural and natural heritage.
Specifically, the organization has developed projects in the regions of Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitan, O'Higgins, Biobío, Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes .
The director of this non-profit institution, Lorena Pérez, details in an interview for the website Plataforma Arquitectura the main challenges of the organization, related to the heritage and roots of communities in a territory.

Pérez points out that there is a tendency to believe that their life in isolation causes its inhabitants to not understand the concept of heritage or its value: “perhaps the inhabitants of these places do not know the disciplinary definition of heritage and may not even recognize the value of a property as a professional in the area would understand it.”
In addition to carrying out documentary research and collecting quantitative data, every project must also carry out a heritage diagnosis that includes “the values, attributes and heritage elements of a territory, highlighting them from the communities.”
