1 Reminder on the three pillars of SEO
2 Why should you publish articles on your blog?
3 Why is it important to publish on other blogs than your own?
4 In summary, it's not one OR the other, it's both!
I wanted to share with you a question that I was asked during a mexico whatsapp workshop I hosted for the fabulous coworking Mother Work Community:
Is it better to post on your own blog or write articles on others'?
And the answer is rather simple (for once): both, my captain!
I will explain in detail why in the rest of the article.

Reminder of the three pillars of SEO
(This may not be a reminder if this is your first time here. Hello!)
To hope to see your website rise in positions and reach new heights on a query in Google search results, it must be well optimized.
And optimization is based on the three pillars of natural referencing (which count equally):
The technique: is your site well built technically and optimized for SEO?
Content: Is each page well optimized for a particular keyword? This is also true for blog posts. You need to choose a keyword and write a text based on that keyword (with a rich lexical field and other techniques).
Popularity: Are other sites linking to yours? Are they popular and related to your topic?
These three pillars must be taken into account in order: there is no point in writing ultra-polished content if your site is technically rotten (there you go, that's said ^^).
And if you don't work on your popularity, you lose a third of your natural referencing possibilities, which is a shame!
You may have understood that here, to answer the question, we are going to talk about the last two pillars, content and popularity.
You may also be interested in this question: How often should you post on a blog?
If you want to learn how to optimize your website for natural referencing from A to Z, I invite you to discover my Corner SEO training where I explore the three pillars of SEO
I'm stopping leaving my site in a corner!
Why should you publish articles on your blog?
For natural referencing, we can never repeat it enough, the blog is an excellent asset . It allows you to regularly update your site (and Google loves that).
Articles also allow you to multiply keywords related to your area of expertise to clearly show Google that yes, you are a real expert on the subject.
That's for the SEO side. But blog posts are so much more.
For your readers, it's a way to get to know you better (provided you put a little of yourself into your articles, that's what we want!). They'll be more likely to trust you and buy from you than if they just see an ad.
It’s a great way to connect with your readers, prospects and future buyers.
Did you know? We read on average between 3 and 5 contents on a site before making a purchase.
So if you haven't already, look for topic ideas, make an editorial calendar and start your blog without further delay!
You may also be asking yourself this question: how many words should I write in a blog post?
Why is it important to publish on other blogs besides your own?
Congratulations! You have started your blog, you already have a nice collection of articles, it is now time to move on to the third pillar of natural referencing: popularity .
The goal is to find blogs that are similar in theme to yours and that are popular themselves.
For the first point, you should get there easily (be careful not to choose a competitor obviously).
For the second point, the Google Chrome extension Majestic is your best friend. It gives you the Trust Flow, Citation Flow and number of referring domains of any site.
Did I lose you?
Wait, don't go, I'll just explain:
Trust Flow gives you an idea of the quality of links a site receives. To put it simply, it should be above 15.
Citation Flow is the amount of links a site receives.
Both are used to make a Trust Flow / Citation Flow report . The score obtained must be greater than 0.7 to consider the site interesting.
Referring domains are the number of sites that link to the site in question. The score must be at least 20.
What if the site you chose doesn't meet these criteria?
It's not a dead end! If it's a site that you like and you think it might be interesting to position yourself there, go for it!
You will probably have understood, you have to write a blog article on a site other than yours yes, but not without putting a link to your site (otherwise it will be mainly useful to the blog on which you write, it will have free content!).
Please note that if you don't want to bother with the popularity pillar of SEO, it is also possible to delegate this part (for a fee of course)
I need help !

In short, it's not one OR the other, it's both!
The real question is not whether to publish on your blog or on someone else's blog. It is essential to do both to play on all the pillars of natural referencing.
Write blog articles regularly on your site: 2 articles per month is a good basis
Also select partner blogs to write on and link to your site on a regular basis (at least once a month).
