What should you pay attention to when starting with a new system?
You have to go step by step. What are the tools supposed to be used for? What do we already have and what do we need to optimize? First, imagine the different applications you want. For several years, I have done a lot of research and collected a lot of desires, in terms of the interface but also in terms of ease of use.
Then, reports are an important part of our decision-making processes. But we also have to compile and study the raw data. And it has to be quick and easy for everyone.
How is it going now?
We have been using the system in 5 hotels for 4 months now. We teacher data are still in the initial phase. At the moment we are focusing on the speed and ease of implementing the systems. There are still some areas that need to be optimized.
The biggest challenge we face is collecting all the data in one place. In all systems, it is quite difficult to integrate all the relevant information, which is nevertheless essential. At the check-in level, we would like to do as much administration as possible in advance. We really want to prepare the members' stay well, by asking them questions, but also by collecting information on social networks. Oh, this gentleman seems to like museums or this lady regularly orders champagne from us. We aim for ultra-personalization.
How do you see the future of the hotel industry?
Today, there is an urgent need to implement changes, with a real focus on customers, on immediate bookings and on finding a system that offers real support. More and more chains are starting to realize this and take the first steps in this direction. I notice that we are quite innovative.
Do you have any tips for those looking for a POS system?
Go beyond traditional systems. It's interesting in terms of efficiency. Determine what is important to you, because that's what it's all about. Then you can figure out what system you really need. I think it's often the opposite that happens: the system does this thing in this way, so we adapt to it, but it should be the opposite: we have to find the technical support that fulfills our desires.
