Climate change and rising sea levels could make most of the Maldives uninhabitable by 2050. To combat this problem, a floating city is being planned in a lagoon near the capital. The city will include 5,000 low-rise belgium number data floating homes and will be built on a series of hexagonal structures rising above the sea. It will be able to house 20,000 people.
A new master plan for the capital of China's Sichuan province is a car-free city. The project challenges traditional urban planning models based on road networks. Chengdu Future City will be located in a hilly area and will include 6 separate zones designed to blend in with the surrounding landscape. All buildings in each zone will be accessible on foot within 10 minutes, and a "smart mobility network" using automated vehicles will connect the city to the rest of Chengdu.
