The importance of leaving comments on blogs

Writing an article is a personal matter. Sometimes, when you get to the end of a piece of writing, you can tell that the writer has given everything he has to complete the piece (writers are dramatic, in case you didn't know). Some authors work for a long time to complete a 500-word piece while others complete 1500-word pieces in less than half an hour. Blessed art of writing!

Now you, as the author, are ready to slide your fingers across the cold, hard keyboard of your computer. You have put your heart and soul into every word…and you go and publish it.

Is that true? You posted it and that's the important part. You don't care if people give you feedback or not. You don't care if people comment on it, share it, or contact you to comment on the content of it. Yeah, yeah, sure... Let's not kid ourselves; we're dying for comments and feedback in general.

When I was new to this, I would see posts with a high number of comments marketing list of plumbers email and I would groan. Here we were, with a high amount of content, much of it educational, where the only ones commenting were spammers. How unfair!

It was a great experience. I realized then that when the blogs I read had writers with the same opinion as me, that's when I started leaving comments even if my comments on the articles were affirmative or negative. Until I did this, my blogs didn't reach the level of visits that I wanted.

Are comments as important as they seem?

I think they are, and my personal experience supports me for many reasons. Here are seven reasons:

1. Commenting is your chance to be heard – Whether you are an author or just a reader who likes to read or comment on posts, it gives you a chance to be heard. Whether you are for or against a particular point of view, showing your opinions on a particular topic will give you a chance to express yourself.

2. Commenting drives traffic to your own page – When you comment, especially on those with additional, more in-depth content, you increase the chances that readers of the article will want to visit your page as well. It’s an interesting way to position yourself as an opinion leader on a wide variety of topics. Of course, we’ve all heard “never comment on the pages of commenters,” but then again, there are bound to be all kinds of people in this life. That said, I’d like to point out that traffic doesn’t just happen.

3. Commenting will allow you to receive feedback - The best way for you to get feedback is through written comments from your readers. You, our readers, are our most valuable source. Your feedback is necessary because:

helped us provide stronger content
It helped us provide you with more topics to read about and pointed out areas we needed to fill in with more information.
In fact, we wouldn't be where we are today if it weren't for your comments, critiques, questions and shares (thanks!). We usually try to visit the pages of everyone who comments on our blog and we have found some great pages and blogs among our readers.
