Top 5 IDP Use Cases

Post by Aklima@416 »

ntelligent document processing (IDP). Documents don’t just process themselves; they become dynamic sources of information that you can analyze and act on in real time.

This is great news, considering that 60-73% of all enterprise data goes unprocessed, unnoticed, or unanalyzed. What is intelligent document processing and what are the five use cases that will inspire your document automation strategy?

What is intelligent document processing?
Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to read documents such as invoices, receipts, applications, and more. It can find the information you want in a document, such as the store name and the amount on a receipt. It can then use that information to fill out forms such as refund requests, send emails, or make payments.

IDP allows you to target key data points in any document. Contracts, bank statements, and personal identification records are also prime candidates for IDP . This includes physical documents that are scanned and digitized, or electronic documents.

With IDP, artificial intelligence processes both types of data that organizations need to process, namely structured and unstructured documents.

Previously, you had to spend time restructuring data numbers in finnish into a consistent format. For example, not long ago, someone had to sift through piles of business cards collected at a conference and manually enter the contacts into a spreadsheet.

Intelligent document processing does the data structuring for you, extracting information from across the entire document, even if it's placed in unexpected places.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
As stated above, intelligent document processing is an optimal solution for automating business processes, improving data management, and streamlining workflows across various industries, a much-needed upgrade in the capabilities of robotic process automation (RPA). Unlike IDP, RPA is much more limited in its possibilities. While IDP is an intuitive solution, RPA needs to be told what to do and can only track specific tasks.
